Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Toastmaster 1740 Immersion 2-Speed Hand Blender, White

Customer Review: Don't Buy It!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

We used this for several months until it started leaking oil mysteriously and eventually the blend spindle separated from the motor, rendering it useless.

Customer Review: Poor Engineering
Summary: 1 Stars

I have this unit. After a few uses, the rocker switch broke. It is a very simple plastic rocker, and is too flimsy to withstand even light usage. I have written to Toastmaster for parts, but I am not optimistic on a $13 item.

UPDATE. Toastmaster ignored my letter and I tossed it out. I bought a Braun at Tuesday Morning for an incredible price.

Customer Review: So much better than the non-portable blenders
Summary: 5 Stars

Regular blenders and food processors are such a pain to clean up and store. I recently became a vegan (mostly) and a lot of the recipes call for mixing hot liquids. The food processor I have just didn't get the liquids smooth enough, and the bowl was hot and awkward to handle. Then it was a royal pain to clean and lots of pieces to put away. Regular blenders would get the bottom part blended really good, but not the top part. So you have to push the stuff down and it makes a huge mess.

So along comes the hand blender and it was only 10 bucks! I love this thing! To blend the hot liquids, I don't even need to remove them from the pan. Making stuff like tofu sour cream is a breeze too. Very little mess and just run the bottom part under running water to clean. It is about the size of a long and narrow knife, so it takes very little space to store. I don't even store it away, though because I use it so much and it takes up like no room at all on my kitchen counter.

I'm not pitching my food processor because you wouldn't want to use this to chop or shred, and the blender is still better for making things like smoothies. But this hand blender is what I use the most for sauces and stuff like that.

Customer Review: Great blender for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great blender for the price. It is very versitile.

I'm buying another, maybe two, after my first one burned out while I was blending something MUCH MUCH thicker than it was designed to blend.

Customer Review: Fell Apart 2
Summary: 1 Stars

This blender works only so so...
But what disappointed me most was that, as the other reviewer mentioned, the operation button FALLS APART.
It took me awhile to find the bits that fell into the food together with the button.
