I purchased this pot from an auction site about a year ago and this is the best electric pot I've found for the price. It boils water in about three minutes and is way faster than my electric stove or gas. The lid snaps in place quite easily if you follow the instructions and line up the gap at the spout. The pot will not operate itself and it's possible to get burn with steam just like any other kettle. We shouldn't expect everything to be dummy-proof. Just be careful just like driving your car on the correct side of the road. The cord is a bit short but works well on my counter top. Now why do we feel the need to leave appliances plugged in? Just unplug the pot when not in use. Conserve your electricity and maybe save your house from burning down.
If you want a good pot for the price, get this one. It's really good.
